Costa Rica and my BIG news…

So much going on!  Where to begin!  Well, a couple weeks ago I visited Costa Rica with my mother and grandmother, our very first “girls only” trip!  Although I know they only brought me for my crazy spanish speaking skills, I gladly obliged ;)  It was so fun to get away and discover new places and of course, take pictures.  While we were gone all sorts of crazy things happened, my sister was hospitalized, my grandpa broke his hip, and because of mistaken identity we thought my cousin had been in a car accident!  Everybody, it turns out, is OK and I was sooooo happy to get the news that my husband had been accepted into Dental school!!!!!  We have been hoping and praying for this for so long and I still just can’t believe it has really happened.  He has been accepted into the UW School of Dentistry which is a fabulous school and exactly where we want to be.  He has also been accepted into a new program called the RIDE program which means we will be spending his first year of school in Spokane.  Soooo, this is the big news, we are moving, BUT, we will back, BUT, we will be moving again after two years.  I know, it’s a lot to take in, we will be here until July or possibly until the baby is born (August 10th due date) we’re still not sure how we’re going to swing this whole birth thing, it’s so hard to switch Dr.’s at this point.  Anyhow, have no fear I will continue to travel back to Seattle throughout the year because I don’t want to lose my fabulous clients!  In the meantime I hope you will continue to enjoy the blog and to those of you in Spokane, I can’t wait to work with you!  A few pics from Costa Rica… “bananos natil” these tiny bananas are sooo good, they ripen more quickly than a regular banana so you rarely (if ever) will see them in the states, but they are so sweet…mmm

LOVE the “birds of paradise” flowers, they look like a toucan’s beak :)

Baby love…

Yesterday my husband and I went to see our little peanut on ultrasound.  We had decided beforehand that we were not going to find out the sex my husband wanted the surprise of learning the gender at birth and he knew that with my big mouth and lack of self control I would ruin the surprise if I knew.  I am the sort of person that has to buy gifts the day before so I don’t ruin the surprise, I CAN’T handle the suspense!  So we went through the ultrasound, we turned our heads away when she had to check the little parts below (and I didn’t peek!) we made it through the ultrasound and I had exercised perfect self control.  In fact, my daughter was so proud of me that while the tech wiped the slippery goo from my belly she said “Good job mommy!  You’re a good girl!”  and then she kissed my arm (she’s 2 ;).  We made it home and picked up my son from school, I was so excited to share the DVD of the ultrasound with him, he’s 5 and I don’t think he quite wraps his mind around this whole “baby in mommy’s belly” thing.  Anyhow, we popped in the DVD and BOTH my husband and I couldn’t help ourselves, we kept looking for “the shot” hoping the tech accidentally caught the angle just right (as if we could even read an ultrasound, LOL!) we watched it 5 times!  At this point my husband knew I was dying to know (and I think secretly he was to!) so he told me to go ahead and call.  He admitted that he totally wanted to know and wouldn’t be upset about ruining the surprise.  So, like an excited little girl on Christmas morning I dialed up the office and put it on speaker phone and…

IT’S A BOY!!

We’re so excited and if I can figure out (or if someone can teach me) I would love to download the ultrasound DVD so we can share it with our Opa and Omi in Germany.

Ok, so on to the photos, I know that’s why you’re really here ;)  This sweet little baby love was sooo content, even if he wasn’t about to give me my sleepy pics (we still snuck a few in), he was perfectly content awake, so why mess with a good thing?  Baby “J’s” mom waited for the surprise of his gender till the day he was born.   Alisa, you’re my hero!  Maybe you can teach me some self control;)

Excuses…

My uncle always says “Excuses are like bums, everyone’s got one and they all stink!”.  Ok, ok, I will spare you the details of the last few months; the first trimester blues (yes that’s an announcement:), the international flight from h@!! (sorry, I couldn’t think of a better way to put that), and the virus plague that has swept through my entire family.  I know I promised pictures so much sooner, but to be completely honest, I didn’t even know where to start with our little trip.  I so hoped to come home and fill you in on magical places, devine food, and pure bliss, unfortunately there were too many mishaps that one post could not contain them all.  I guess I should have known that a trip that begins with my nephew throwing up in the airport lobby and sitting on a NON MOVING plane for 4hrs with a 2yr old only to have the captain announce “I’m sorry folks but it seems we have run out of de-icer and will not be able to depart until sometime tomorrow.  Unfortunately because of all of the other flight cancellations there are no hotels available in area…” oh my, I should have known…  Even with all that went wrong (and a LOT went wrong) we were just grateful to see family, my children met their great grandparents for the first time, the food was devine, and the scenery, of course was beautiful.  This was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and was certainly most memorable (I mean, seriously, how will we ever forget;).  One thing I realized is that I am no landscape artist, LOL!  Child photography is definitely my forte, but I do hope you can still enjoy a little piece of Germany!

A very German Christmas…
